I was not expecting moon-rise. I should have been, the Hunter’s Moon has a narrow orbit in October, emerging close to sunset. But it was one more thing I hadn’t quite thought to look up.
Instead, I was watching the sun shift on Ship Rock. How different this place is from the towering buildings and hustling people of New York.
A pleasant surprise when I turned around, a good reminder to always take in the full scene. The light shifted into purple hues, and I was grateful to have that moment of pause, the moon hanging heavy.
