GREEN-WOOD GREETER
GREEN-WOOD GREETER
GREEN-WOOD GREETER
Walking towards the 1861 Gothic Revival Gates of the Green-Wood Cemetery, you’re sure to hear the chatter of a flock. Bright green flashes flit to and fro. Apocryphal legend says the monk parakeets squawking above originated from a transport accident - a smashed crate at the airport released happy escapees who made their way to Brooklyn. All I know for sure is that they’re fast little feathered friends who love to challenge my lens by staying nicely out of view and back-lit. I was overjoyed when one early morning visit to Green-Wood found them close to ground level, feasting in the crab apple trees. (This image is only available in size small.)
